Issue of Generic Requirements (GR), Interface Requirements (IR),Service Requirements (SR) and Standards for Telecom Products andServices.
- Field evaluation of products and Systems.
- National Fundamental Plans.
- Support to DoT HQ and other Government Departments on technologyissues.
- Testing & Certification of Telecom products.
- Technology Approvals for indigenous technologies from C-DoT, othergovernment labs and Educational Institutions.
- WTO TBT National enquiry / notification point for Telecom / related ICTsector.Four Regional Telecom Engineering Centres (RTECs) have been establishedwhich are located at New Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Kolkata, for testingand certification of Telecom/Related ICT products.With the notification of Indian Telegraph (Amendment) Rules 2017 enablingMandatory Testing and Certification of Telecom Equipment (MTCTE), TEChas been designated as the Telegraph Authority for the purpose ofadministration of MTCTE procedure and for formulation of EssentialRequirements (ER) under MTCTE.This document prescribes the procedure for Mandatory Testing andCertification of Telecom Equipment.
